Eat Local Challenge

About the Potlucks:

Join us for the Eat Local Challenge member potlucks with a new twist - "Backyard Farmers."  We will be gathering in local homes and yards to learn through each other's experiences with small-scale home gardening and local ingredient home cooking.  DON''T FORGET to bring your own plates and utensils.  For directions and more information please contact the hosts directly:

About the Challenge:

Join today.  For this year's Challenge we will be mixing things up a bit and evolving into a club of participants. To become a member of the Eat Local Challenge Club all one needs to do is to make the pledge:

"I will maintain an awareness around what food sources are available from our local environment and I will make an effort to consume a diet rich in these locally grown and raised foods throughout the peak of our region's growing season."

Membership includes:

  • Weekly updates offering eat local tips and Ryan's Current Harvest.
  • Eligibility to join in member-only potlucks designed to learn culinary skills through sharing.
  • Social gatherings with fellow locavores at our monthly meetings.
  • Opportunities to learn and share skills - from backyard gardening, to seed saving, to food storage techniques.

Membership is by donation. No one will be turned away. Official dates are June 30th to September 30th. You may join at any time.

You may choose the challenge radius of 30 miles (all sources listed on this website are within 30 miles!) or expand your personal challenge radius to 100 miles.  You may choose to try to eat 100% local or create your own personal goal.
